Those who suffer from a restless sleep often report, “I wake up several times at night” or “I wake up feeling tired.” These common sleeping issues, we discovered, are a result of the hampered sideway rotations of your head while you sleep. Kitamura Makura thus asked, “How can we facilitate smooth rotations of the head?” This inquiry is what led to the creation of KM05. In crafting such a pillow, we have incorporated the experience and knowledge from the decade-long lessons of our gymnast series, while at the same time we have reconsidered our well-established method of sewing, the structure of pillow, inner materials, and texture, as well as the aesthetic of the overall shape. The result is a pillow that is comfortable for the head to rest on and beautiful for the eye to look at. KM05 is born.

Soundless Sleep with Downy Cotton

A pillow stuffed with beads can be noisy or feel coarse on your cheeks. KM05 solves this slightly worrisome issue of beads pillow. The side of the pillow is triple layered and covered with the cushiony, downy cotton, stitched together by hand. This multilayered structure allows the pillow to incorporate two of the greatest benefits of cotton: softness and permeability.

(Re)Adjusting the Height in a Minute

The Gymnast series use several materials according to specific locations and functions. KM05 in particular enables you to pack different sections of the inner materials in beanbags, making it easy to (re)adjust its height. You can make fine-tune adjustments using small and large beanbags alternatively. The uniquely designed stretchy material of the pocket makes it easy to add or remove beanbags as needed.

Distinctive “Broad Bean Shape” and Gentle “Sloping”

Looking from the top, KM05 is shaped like a broad bean. This shape is the result of our pursuit for the match between the trajectories of our head’s sideway rotations during sleep and the beautiful curvature of the pillow. Looking from the side, KM05 swells gently from the center to the edge, like a slope. This gradually sloped design facilitates the smooth movement of the head from the center to the pillow’s edges.
